Cross candles are often used as general altar candles. The popular image represents the Christian cross with an open book, presumably the bible, at its center. Though primarily used by folks who are Christian, some practitioners use the candles as representative of the crossroads. They are also used by many in works of devotional prayer and various works dependent upon color. White for faith, purity and uncrossing. Black for personal power and occult wisdom. Green for money matters. Red for love and matters of the heart.
To use, the candle should be carved with the name and birth date of the individual whom they are meant to represent. The bottom of the candle may also be carved out and items such as hair or personal effects from the individual they are meant to represent may be added. The candle is then dressed with and appropriate conjure oil while being prayed over and named for the person the work is being done for.
