A part of the Voices of Folk Magic Series
This class will livestream via Zoom at 7pm Eastern on Sunday March 19th 2023 and will be available as a video for viewing afterwards
In this class, Sasha Ravitch will share folklore, superstition, first-hand anecdotes, and anthropological research regarding the unique conjuration, ritualized possession, spirit-work, and oracular practices and charms, the Vlach sojmanka and the Kalderash painwife use in service of their faery and animal spirit familiars. Sasha will discuss with students some of the implications, complications, and manifestations of these lineages when the phenomena presents itself outside of the Balkans, and without the traditional role of the village. Students will walk away with several charms, offerings, and exercises that they can incorporate into their spirit work, conjuration, and visionary and prophetic practices, while honoring the unique and exclusive lineages they are born from.
