Wales is a land filled with curious customs and traditions, intriguing beliefs surrounding spirits and fairies, and a trove of magical lore. During this class we will explore old magical traditions and beliefs of Wales.
You will learn about how certain elements from nature were utilized by the Welsh for magical purposes, such as rowan berries, nettle leaves and snake skin. Explore the ways of the magical specialists of Wales’ past, and learn how one might incorporate their knowledge and ways into a modern day practice.
Together we will delve into various forms of Welsh magic, from protective charms and fetishes of luck or fortune, to notorious curses and baneful spells. Delve into how slate was utilized in cursing magic, or how the skull of a horse might kill an echo.
A connection to Wales or an interest in Welsh culture is beneficial but not helpful to a participant of this class, for the magic explored should inspire any modern folk magician.
