Collection: Folk Magic & Traditions

In contrast to the orthodox religion and magic of the church or state, folk magical traditions represent the magic of the common people. Folk magical traditions tend to focus upon addressing practical needs and desires through prayer, conjuration, charms, and drawing upon the magical virtues of what's at hand - herbs, roots, bones and everyday objects. And though there are many cultural permutations of folk magic. A commonality  found throughout is a pragmatism and accessibility which has often been embraced by impoverished, marginalized, disenfranchised communities in order to aid and address the concerns of daily life.
