St. Lazarus Statue

St. Lazarus of Bethany was resurrected by Jesus after being dead for four days, and in various ancient traditions went on to a bishop. However, he is often conflated with another Biblical Lazarus, a sick beggar who lay by the town gate, with his sores licked by dogs. Together, they form a potent figure of both sickness and healing. In Santeria, St. Lazarus is syncretized with the orisha Babaluaye.
